You may have heard of autistic spectrum disorder, which is in the DSM 5. The easiest way to explain this new label is that doctors will be able to look at one diagnosis and see if you fit it and if you’re a mild case, like those with Aspergers or if you have full blown autism. They’re going to say everyone has autistic spectrum disorder, instead of all the different diagnosis for something that’s somewhat similar. I don’t like it being in the DSM, since Aspergers is a neurological disorder and not a mental disorder, but maybe they’re making a neurological section of the book.
I honestly don’t know much about the DSM, nor am I interested in learning more about it.
